RenaultSport Clio 200 Cup

RenaultSport Clio 200 Cup

New pictures have been released by RenaultSport of the new Clio 200 Cup.

Interesting is the new rear diffuser design with the exhausts moulded into the carbon fibre look rear venturi.

It does look to have the same 197 and Megane RS braking system using the 312mm Brembo Disc and 4-pot combination.

The New Megane RS Picture Teasers

New Megane RS Teaser Pictures

RenaultSport have released teaser pictures of the new Megane RS – prior to its official launch at the Geneva motorshow, which begins on the 5th March 2009.

The new Megane RS is expected to have a power hike to 250bhp and to come with all of the toys that we have come to expect from RenaultSport’s hot hatches – 4-Pot Brembo brakes, LSD (Limited Slip Differential), Manual transmission. Rumours are that the car will come with revised power steering systems, and that it will only initially be available as a 3 door, with a 5 door following later in the year.

With the final Megane RS R26-R RenaultSport raised the bar considerably, with a hardcore track and road racecar, and received much acclaim for the lightweight weapon. Expect the initial new models to be more sedate, yet still lively. Obviously expect some more hardcore versions after the immense success of the F1 R26 and the R26-R with the old Megane RS models. There are sure to be some trackday specials being cooked up at the moment.

With the teaser images appearing on the new megane website: New Megane and a countdown to the New RS launch, we will certainly see what is coming within the fortnight.

The New Renault Clio GT Unveiled

The new Renault Clio GT on the road

The new Renault Clio GT on the road

Renault have announced the new 2009 Clio and presented stunning new images of the latest hot hatch from the stables that have produced the Clio Williams, 172 and 182 as well as in recent years the Clio V6 and Megane RS.

The new design firmly reinforces the Clio’s family ties with New Mégane.

The new Clio sits squatly on the road and displays revised styling, with the lines of the new headlamps now extending down to the lateral upturns of the front air intake. The broad grille in the lower part of the new front bumper sets off the dynamic styling with the presence of gloss black protective mouldings. The revised design of the rear lights extends the waist line across the hatch, while the uncluttered approach to the design of the central part of the rear bumper further emphasises New Clio’s dynamic stance. The reversing lights and foglamps are positioned low down and to the extreme corners of the rear bumper.

The choice of the new interior trims and equipment aims to produce a sense of well-being and quality with the screen of the new Carminat TomTom GPS navigation system integrated into the upper part of the centre console.

New Clio GT: a new sport version

As with other Renault models, a GT version forms part of the New Clio range. Its frontal styling is more aggressive and includes a gloss black grille, while the extended side sills hint at the performance of the GT’s specific suspension settings. New Clio GT is easily recognizable from the rear thanks to its twin exhaust tailpipes and lip spoiler and features an exclusive body colour, Malta Blue.

There are eye-catching sports details inside the car, too, including drilled aluminium pedal covers and extra side support for the seats, plus GT-badging for the front seats.

New RenaultSport Clio 197 Lux Announced

RENAULT LAUNCHES CLIO RENAULTSPORT 197 LUX

Renault have announced the new Clio RenaultSport 197 Lux – a higher specification version of the normal Clio 197 intended for those who like their hot hatches with a splash of Luxury. Available from January 2009, the more refined and comfortable version of the 197 will be loaded with leather uphostery, automatic climate control, auto headlights, wipers, cornering lights, rear tinted windows, MP3 CD player with 60W, RenaultSport carpets, and lovely chromed air vents.  Outside, the Lux can be identified by brushed aluminium ‘Raider’ alloy wheels and a satin chrome finish to the door mirrors and to the air extraction grilles in the front wings.

The Clio Renaultsport 197 Lux is available in a choice of Ultra Red, Racing Blue, Renault i.d. Glacier White (£150), metallic Deep Black (£375) or metallic Albi Blue (£375).   Further optional equipment available are electrically folding door mirrors (£100), an electrically operated panoramic sunroof (£600), xenon headlamps (£550), Speedline wheels in either white or black (£100) or the acclaimed Cup chassis (£400).

So all in all for an extra £1000 over the price of a standard RenaultSport Clio 197, one could say its not bad… if you like that kind of thing. Obviously all that extra gubbins will weigh more, so it won’t be as light or nimble as a 197 Cup, but not everyone is after that kind of thing.
