Renault Introduces Twingo Gordini RenaultSport
The Gordini name returns with the introduction of the Twingo Gordini Renaultsport. This latest version of Renault’s pocket rocket takes a fresh stance on the design cues long-associated with the Gordini world.
Just as before, the combination of French blue, white racing stripes and stylish, quilted leather upholstery forms an integral part of the package -but with a distinctly modern touch.
The latest Renault hot hatch will appeal to customers looking for a distinctive car with an assertive character, exuding an unmistakably French feel – a fitting tribute to everything for which the Gordini signature stands.
Twingo Gordini Renaultsport is premiered until 10 January 2010, at the Atelier Renault on the Champs-Elysées, in Paris, as part of the prestigious showroom’s ‘Christmas in Blue’ exhibition. It will go on sale across Europe from March 2010.
GORDINI ‘LOOK’ SALUTES RICH HERITAGE
Twingo Gordini Renaultsport features a gleaming Malta Blue metallic finish, plus two white racing stripes, in keeping with tradition. The front and rear bumpers are enhanced by gloss black centre sections, while the fog lamp surrounds, exterior door mirror housings and rear tailgate spoiler are all picked out in a contrasting white finish.
‘Gordini Series’ badging either side refers back to the 1960’s heyday of the Gordini Cup in France when the qualifying heats of the different race meetings were known as séries.
This exclusive exterior styling package is rounded off by 17-inch alloy wheels with a polished face and a choice of the inner rim finished in either blue or black.
The same Gordini spirit continues inside thanks to:
- Renaultsport seats with extra lateral support, with blue and black Gordini-embossed leather upholstery
- blue leather door panel inserts
- blue and black leather-covered steering wheel with two white stripes to indicate the centre point
- blue gearlever gaiter and Gordini-badged gearlever knob
- blue rev-counter with white surround
- leather-trimmed dashboard cowl
TWINGO GORDINI RENAULTSPORT: BACKED BY RENAULT SPORT TECHNOLOGIES
To ensure that it befits Gordini’s glorious motor sport heritage, the latest addition to the Twingo range is based on the same performance/equipment package as the Renaultsport 133 version:
- ‘Sport’ chassis with 17-inch wheels for outstanding road-holding that is equally suited to everyday motoring
- a feisty, responsive 1.6-litre 133hp petrol engine with a distinctive,
specially-tuned exhaust note under acceleration
- precise, incisive steering for even greater fun at the wheel
- powerful, durable braking performance
THE TWINGO SUCCESS STORY CONTINUES
Twingo continues to enjoy considerable success in the European A-segment, with sales between January and the end of October 2009 amounting to 140,700 cars, an increase of 20 per cent over 2008.
With 83,000 cars sold in France (an increase of 53 per cent over 2008), Twingo has emerged as the best-selling small city car for the second year running and accounts for almost one sale in three in the sector.
The Renaultsport versions of Twingo are the segment’s best-selling small sporting models and contribute to promoting Twingo’s dynamic image.
Twingo Gordini Renaultsport. is expected to win over customers looking for a sporty car with refined, distinctive styling. The newcomer combines the very best that the Twingo line-up has to offer with an indisputable Gordini flavour.

GORDINI: RENAULT’S SPORTING HERITAGE
Amédée Gordini, who developed almost 200,000 Renault vehicles over a 20-year period, achieved some of the brand’s greatest sporting achievements.
Born in 1899, within a year of Louis Renault building his very first vehicle, Amédée Gordini was fascinated by automobiles and motor racing from a very young age. After working as a racing mechanic in his teens, Gordini developed his own sports racing and Grand Prix cars before being engaged by Renault in the mid-1950s. The Renault 8 Gordini with its bright blue paintwork and twin white stripes was one of his most successful and iconic creations, finishing 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th in the 1964 Tour of Corsica rally. In 1966, the 1300cc version heralded the Gordini Cup one-make race series, the blueprint for all single-make motorsport championships.
Prices will be announced nearer the time of the launch in the UK in March.

Clio 172/182 Cup Racer Dampers ::For Sale::
Clio 172/182 Cup Racer Bilstein/RenaultSport Dampers For Sale – £750 a pair inc. Delivery
The dampers are the only used part of this kit – everything else is brand new and unused.
- Complete Clio Cup Racer Rear Coilover Damper
- Complete Clio Cup Racer Rear Coilover Damper Lower
- Complete Clio Cup Racer Rear Coilover Damper Upper
- Complete Clio Cup Racer Rear Coilover Dampers
Following on from my earlier bits for sale thread, I am listing these two pairs of Bilstein Clio Cup Racer Dampers separately.
One set is from the earlier Clio Cup 172’s (Silver) and the second set were used on the later 172 and 182 Cup Racers, however they are identical as far as I am aware apart from the colour. The silver dampers are slightly different lengths due to them being the earlier design – I can’t tell you why this is – but obviously this is not an issue, as the ride height is adjusted using the srping platforms. New the dampers alone are about £170 each, springs £60 each and the ancillarys such as the bearings, and everything else are about £250 per damper – So you are looking at about £1000 for a pair of the dampers new.
They fit the standard car and are fabulous for anything on track orientated – I actually ran them on the road for ages, but I am a little more hardcore than most – they were perfect with the vehicle that I was running, and were well rated and damped.
The Clio Cup Racers run with “Clio Cup” Eibach Springs – but you could quite easily update/uprate these with the Eibach. In this range the Clio Cup C-400 spring is the softest rate that Eibach do, but, this range goes up in increments of 50lbs at about £65 per spring.
I am not really negociable on the price, as everything in terms of parts is brand new. If you would like to pay on Paypal – fine – but you must pay the charges.

New 2010 Formula Renault Announced
New Formula Renault 2.0 F4R Powered Car Is Go for 2010

2010 Formula Renault
Renault Sport UK today confirmed the New Formula Renault 2.0 race car is to make its competitive debut at the start of the 2010 Michelin Formula Renault UK Championship.
The new car replaces the current Tatuus-built chassis – which has become the world’s best-selling single-seater with close to 1,000 sales worldwide – first introduced in the UK in 2000.
Featuring a new chassis, seven-speed sequential gearbox, and a 2.0-litre, 16v normally-aspirated F4R832 engine derived from Clio Renault Sport phase II, the new car is about to go into production at the Renaultsport factory in Dieppe, France.
The wraps first came off the new car earlier this year during its debut track outing at the Magny-Cours circuit in France. Former Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 winner Filipe Albuquerque was one of the drivers selected to contribute to the extensive testing program over the summer months along with Alvaro Parente and Andy Soucek. During which the Renault Sport Technologies team covered more than 6,000km and visited a range of circuits – including Nogaro, Dijon, Pau Arnos in France, Italy’s Monza and Motorland in Southern Spain – to validate the cars design and system operation.
As well as electronically-controlled, steering wheel-mounted gearshift paddles, the new car also features the latest generation engine ECU fitted with comprehensive data acquisition and a colour instrument panel integral with the steering wheel.
Commenting on the announcement, Michelin Formula Renault UK Championship Promoter Simon North said: “Given the current economic climate, the decision to introduce the new car was discussed carefully with our existing teams but we are all confident it is an important step forward in the future success of the series.
“Renault Sport Technologies’ engineers have produced a car that is not only more technologically advanced, but also more of a driver’s car. The philosophy has been to make the car more responsive to input from both driver and engineer, whilst retaining the durable and cost-effective foundations that have helped the series become so successful over the past 20 years. We expect this next generation of car to continue to be a great stepping stone for both drivers and engineers aspiring to reach Formula One.”
He added: “Deliveries are expected towards the end of the year and already Renault Sport has had considerable interest from existing teams and those who will be new to the championship next year.”
