Bilstein PSS10 Clio Coilovers Launched

YozzaSport Bilstein PSS10 Clio Coilovers Launched

YozzaSport are pleased to announce the release of the new Bilstein B16 PSS-10 coilover kit for the RenaultSport Clio 172 and Clio 182. Intended to offer road and trackday enthusiasts as well as race and rally drivers an unrivalled coilover suspension package. Since 2005, YozzaSport have continued to develop their already acclaimed PSS9 suspension for the Clio RS range. We are now pleased to announce that our new Bilstein PSS10 front and rear coilover kit is now available.

Press Release here: YozzaSport Press Release

Working with Bilstein to develop the PSS10 kit, YozzaSport have opted for a front and rear coilover design more in line with race solutions used on Clio Cup race cars and VLN cars rather than use a separate spring and damper assembly as with previous designs. With a fully adjustable front and rear coilover suspension set-up the kit is versatile and it is possible to quickly adjust the damping rates with the suspension in-situ, making adjustments simple and highly effective. Andrew Hughes, owner of YozzaSport comments; “With many Clio 182 owners using their cars so aggressively on track, we had to develop a product that would cope with the demands, but needed it to still be lightweight, and simple to adjust. With the PSS10 you have everything in one suspension package”.

YozzaSport understand that a major requirement for motorsport users is to have the highest quality products, yet still enable them to be able to specify options such as spring rates. With a wide range of springs suitable for many different applications, as well as being able to offer shorter dampers for racing applications, we can offer a bespoke solution when necessary, at minimal extra cost. Hughes went on to say; “Until now, Clio 182 owners had to be satisfied with adapted road suspension, we can now offer them a full racing suspension solution.”

The use of Bilstein’s MotorSport proven upside down, mono-tube technology in the B16 PSS10 damper means that the Clio benefits from suspension developed and tested in the most demanding of racing environments. With their massive improvements to handling, damping and durability, the YozzaSport B16 are unrivalled in terms of build quality, reliability and versatility.

The manually adjustable damping monotube gas shock absorbers feature 9 or 10-stage precise compression and rebound settings, from comfort to competition. The threaded body allows accurate adjustment of the front and rear progressive rate springs to achieve the vehicle ride height, center of gravity and level of performance handling desired.

The Bilstein B16 system puts the user in complete control of the suspension, providing the precise suspension adjustment formerly available only on race cars. From a weekend of competition to daily driving, this system provides perfect balance and handling performance. The Bilstein B16 system includes 4 mono-tube dampers with coil springs, and features: Monotube-inverted technology; Manual 10-stage compression/rebound damping rate adjustment; Height can be adjusted with system installed; Spherical top and bottom mounts on the rear damper units.

Priced at £2050+VAT the kit is available for: RenaultSport Clio 172 (Inc. Ph1, Ph2, and Cup), 182 (inc. Cup and Trophy) and coming in the New Year a kit for the Clio 197 and Clio 200 Cup.

The two new Bilstein coilover kits are viewable on the pages on the Yozzasport website. The Clio 172 Kit is available on our Clio 172 Coilover pages and the new 182 kit on our Clio 182 Coilover pages. Clio Williams No. 226 History and Information

Clio Williams 1 No. 226 Plaque
Clio Williams 1 No. 226 Plaque

Clio Williams No. 226 was originally the prize car won by Allister Lolye for the Gerard MotorSport team at the end of the 1993 RenaultSport Clio Cup Championship. The vehicle is No. 226 of a total of 400 UK Cars.

It has a leather folder full of all of the information about the history of the car and a full list of receipts and purchases for everything related to the car, including all old MOT certificates confirming the milage as genuine and demonstrating that the car has been owned by genuine enthusiasts throughout its life.

I purchased the car earlier this year to mechanically restore it, as it was in need of some TLC as the clutch had gone and the former owner had been made reduntant and didn’t plan to replace it. The car also needed a few items sourcing to bring it back to its former glory and to make it an original condition vehicle again.

22-02-09 Vehicle Purchase By Andrew Hughes on Trade Purchase Slip

MOT was carried out on – April 3rd 2009 – 103099 miles

The following points were highlighted as advisory items:

-          Nearside front Macpherson strut has slight movement in the upper support bearing

-          Offside front Macpherson strut has slight movement in the upper support bearing

-          Engine Noise

The engine noise that was mentioned on the MOT advisory note was Cambelt slap and it was decided that the Cambelt and Accessory belts would be changed to provide the new owner with a mechanically sound vehicle. These have been changed, and the vehicle runs perfectly.

The vehicle has been dry stored over the Summer of 2009 and has had the following works undertaken in my free time:

  • New Clutch (Valeo) Kit
  • Renault Cambelt Kit
  • Renault Accessory Belt
  • Brembo HC Front Discs
  • Ferodo DS2500 Front and Rear Brake Pads
  • 4 x 185/55/15 Toyo Proxy T1-R
  • Replacement O/S Driveshaft
  • Valeo Radiator
  • Replacement Oil and Renault Filter
  • Replacement (Valeo) N/S Fog light
  • Exhaust Centre Section Repacked

The following parts are supplied with the car as there are a few elements that are non original items or that are missing.

I am supplying these items with the car, rather than fitting them and trying to hide the fact that the car isn’t quite original. These items are as follows:

  • Original Clio Williams parcel shelf and suit carrier as the one currently in the car is a Clio 1.8 16v item.
  • Replacement gearbox tunnel plastic trim, as at some point a car phone kit has been fitted into the passenger foot well – it has been removed without damaging the item more and pop riveted to hide the holes, but a replacement item is supplied.
  • Replacement dash cowling between the steering wheel and instrument panel, as initial immobiliser fob had been installed into this trim.
  • Replacement plastic engine covers.
  • Replacement Clio Williams rear ¼ trims. The rear quarter panel trims are not black as they should be – I ordered the replacement items from Renault, and they arrived in Silver, exactly as per the items on the car. I then discovered that all that needs to happen is that some Renault black tape needs applying to these trims to make them “Williams” items, rather than 1.8 16v items.
  • Brand New Renault Water pump – I thought that there may be some movement in the one on there – there wasn’t it was sound, and didn’t require replacing.
  • Replacement Williams Decals (non Renault) as the ones on there are a little faded.

Items that you may wish to amend / faults

  • O/S rear arch is rusting slightly.
  • N/S rear arch could also do with some attention; however the condition is not bad at all.
  • Driver’s door has a small ding in the metal work above the mirror.
  • A small patch of rust on the rear tailgate.
  • Driver’s seat has had a small repair to the cloth at some point in its history. It is about 9mm long and is not very noticeable at all.
  • The exhaust heat shield is missing – these are £60 from Renault – I can supply the part number if necessary.

Renault Gordini To Be Revived

Renault Gordini To Be Revived in 2009

Black Renault 5 Gordini

Black Renault 5 Gordini

Rumour is rife that the new 2009 Clio and Twingo hot hatches from RenaultSport will be given the iconic and legendary Gordini name. The last car to recieve any Gordini honours was the Clio 182 which was given the same colour scheme and white stripes as with the Renault 8, 12 and 5 Gordini.

The latest news from AutoExress and Car Magazine suggest that the the hot hatches will be one of two things… either, the hot hatch versions of the standard cars sitting above the normal versions of the car, but NOT RenaultSport models will be given the Gordini name, OR that these will be a hardcore version that sits above the current RenaultSport levels – maybe in the way that the Megane R26.R has been recently. I would expect that it will be a sporty version of the Clio and Twingo rather than a Hardcore racer.

The options are expected to be similar to what BMW do with the mini and Fiat with the Abarth version of the 500, but expect to see paint, alloy, and detailing options.

Unfortunately we weren’t courted by the Senior Vice President of Global Marketing at Geneva to be given the scoop, but… you probably found out here first.

Either way, it sounds interesting…

Always a Hooligan,
