Bilstein PSS10 Clio Coilovers Launched

YozzaSport Bilstein PSS10 Clio Coilovers Launched

YozzaSport are pleased to announce the release of the new Bilstein B16 PSS-10 coilover kit for the RenaultSport Clio 172 and Clio 182. Intended to offer road and trackday enthusiasts as well as race and rally drivers an unrivalled coilover suspension package. Since 2005, YozzaSport have continued to develop their already acclaimed PSS9 suspension for the Clio RS range. We are now pleased to announce that our new Bilstein PSS10 front and rear coilover kit is now available.

Press Release here: YozzaSport Press Release

Working with Bilstein to develop the PSS10 kit, YozzaSport have opted for a front and rear coilover design more in line with race solutions used on Clio Cup race cars and VLN cars rather than use a separate spring and damper assembly as with previous designs. With a fully adjustable front and rear coilover suspension set-up the kit is versatile and it is possible to quickly adjust the damping rates with the suspension in-situ, making adjustments simple and highly effective. Andrew Hughes, owner of YozzaSport comments; “With many Clio 182 owners using their cars so aggressively on track, we had to develop a product that would cope with the demands, but needed it to still be lightweight, and simple to adjust. With the PSS10 you have everything in one suspension package”.

YozzaSport understand that a major requirement for motorsport users is to have the highest quality products, yet still enable them to be able to specify options such as spring rates. With a wide range of springs suitable for many different applications, as well as being able to offer shorter dampers for racing applications, we can offer a bespoke solution when necessary, at minimal extra cost. Hughes went on to say; “Until now, Clio 182 owners had to be satisfied with adapted road suspension, we can now offer them a full racing suspension solution.”

The use of Bilstein’s MotorSport proven upside down, mono-tube technology in the B16 PSS10 damper means that the Clio benefits from suspension developed and tested in the most demanding of racing environments. With their massive improvements to handling, damping and durability, the YozzaSport B16 are unrivalled in terms of build quality, reliability and versatility.

The manually adjustable damping monotube gas shock absorbers feature 9 or 10-stage precise compression and rebound settings, from comfort to competition. The threaded body allows accurate adjustment of the front and rear progressive rate springs to achieve the vehicle ride height, center of gravity and level of performance handling desired.

The Bilstein B16 system puts the user in complete control of the suspension, providing the precise suspension adjustment formerly available only on race cars. From a weekend of competition to daily driving, this system provides perfect balance and handling performance. The Bilstein B16 system includes 4 mono-tube dampers with coil springs, and features: Monotube-inverted technology; Manual 10-stage compression/rebound damping rate adjustment; Height can be adjusted with system installed; Spherical top and bottom mounts on the rear damper units.

Priced at £2050+VAT the kit is available for: RenaultSport Clio 172 (Inc. Ph1, Ph2, and Cup), 182 (inc. Cup and Trophy) and coming in the New Year a kit for the Clio 197 and Clio 200 Cup.

The two new Bilstein coilover kits are viewable on the pages on the Yozzasport website. The Clio 172 Kit is available on our Clio 172 Coilover pages and the new 182 kit on our Clio 182 Coilover pages. Clio 172/182 Cup Racer Dampers ::For Sale::

Clio 172/182 Cup Racer Bilstein/RenaultSport Dampers For Sale – £750 a pair inc. Delivery

The dampers are the only used part of this kit – everything else is brand new and unused.

Following on from my earlier bits for sale thread, I am listing these two pairs of Bilstein Clio Cup Racer Dampers separately.

One set is from the earlier Clio Cup 172’s (Silver) and the second set were used on the later 172 and 182 Cup Racers, however they are identical as far as I am aware apart from the colour. The silver dampers are slightly different lengths due to them being the earlier design – I can’t tell you why this is – but obviously this is not an issue, as the ride height is adjusted using the srping platforms. New the dampers alone are about £170 each, springs £60 each and the ancillarys such as the bearings, and everything else are about £250 per damper – So you are looking at about £1000 for a pair of the dampers new.

They fit the standard car and are fabulous for anything on track orientated – I actually ran them on the road for ages, but I am a little more hardcore than most – they were perfect with the vehicle that I was running, and were well rated and damped.

The Clio Cup Racers  run with “Clio Cup” Eibach Springs – but you could quite easily update/uprate these with the Eibach. In this range the Clio Cup C-400 spring is the softest rate that Eibach do, but, this range goes up in increments of 50lbs at about £65 per spring.

I am not really negociable on the price, as everything in terms of parts is brand new. If you would like to pay on Paypal – fine – but you must pay the charges.

YozzaSport Clio 172/182 Coilover – Bilstein B16 PSS10

YozzaSport are pleased to announce the first customer delivery of the YozzaSport/Bilstein Clio 172/182 PSS10 Coilover Kit.

Bilstein PSS10 Clio Front and Rear Coilovers

Bilstein PSS10 Clio Front and Rear Coilovers

The damper price has been confirmed now at: £2050+VAT (at the prevailing rate) including Eibach Linear Springs*

Following our announcement in July about the forthcoming YozzaSport Coilover Kit we are pleased to announce the first kit has been produced, and is off for testing on a race car for the weekend of the 5th/6th October. The kit builds and develops on from the Bilstein PSS9 coilvoer kit that YozzaSport have previously developed and sold.

The main differences are that this kit is designed to offer the user a completely unrivaled damper in terms of quality, durability and damper life.

With a larger control wheel, and easier adjustability the PSS-10 is more usable and reliable than the previous PSS-9 kits meaning that an investment in a kit is likely to last the lifetime of a vehicle. Our development PSS-9 kit has done 50,000 miles on road and track, and is still going strong. With a rebuild of the Bilstein Coilover dampers costing in the region of £75 per damper plus parts, it means that the kit is an investment, rather than an ongoing cost. With the rear damper using a RenaultSport (replaceable) suspension knuckle and a (replaceable) spherical bearing to attach the rear coilover to the rear beam, should you damage a part of the damper whilst racing, it is quick, simple and cost effective to repair the unit, rather than having to replace the complete damper.

Due to the kit in the pictures being intended for a motorsport application, the Eibach springs are much harder than we would recommend for road use.

Always a Hooligan,

/y0z

*This price is based on 5 sets being ordered. There may be a wait of a few weeks whilst 5 orders are aggregated. Delivery time would be approximately 8 weeks.

How to Stop Brake Fade On Trackdays

How to Stop Brake Fade On Trackdays

How to stop pedal fade and pad fade on trackdays

How to stop pedal fade and pad fade on trackdays

Brakefade is in essence the brakes ceasing to work. This often happens on track after periods or extended periods of heavy use.

There are two types of brake fade, that are essentially broken down into two specific areas:

Pedal Fade

Pedal fade occurs as a result of the brake fluid boiling in the calipers.  The normal resulting symptoms are that on application of the brakes, the brake pedal to feel spongy and pedal travel will increase. This is often called the brake pedal going through the floor. It is a particularly unpleasant experience, as normally when you apply the brakes you are expecting them to pull you up, often when “the pedal goes to the floor” you are hurtling towards something that you would rather not make contact with – IE Someone else, armco or other immovable object that will need more than T-Cut and a polish out…

Braided brake lines will also help resist the spongey pedal feel. Stainless brake line information is following in the coming weeks.

If you experience pedal fade, it almost always will require the brake fluid in the system to be changed, as it will have boiled. Once brake fluid has boiled once, its ability to resit boiling again has been greatly reduced.  Brake fluid testing should be regularly done as a matter of course, and on a track car or racecar, it should be replaced regularly, or when tests show it has degraded. (Always use the highest-grade fluid possible). The standard brake fluid now-a-days is dot4.1 however, dot5.1 is now quite common and is suitable for most trackday and race applications.

Pad Fade

Pad fade is the result of friction being lost between pad and disc surface due to the friction material exceeding its maximum operating temperature.  The pedal feel remains constant (ie. the pedal remains hard) but regardless of how hard you push the brakes, the vehicle is not slowed down.

If pad fade regularly occurs or if it occurs towards the end of a session or race, an upgrade to a material with a higher operating temperature should be considered.  If the highest specification pad material is being used, one should be looking at larger rotors (discs)  or a higher quality disc with curved vanes can also aid this cooling process. Alternatively, improving cooling to the brakes through the use of brake ducting or similar.

The most significant area of problems or issues with upgraded brake discs, pads and high performance braking systems is almost always the control of the brake temperatures.  The Brake disc and brake pad temperatures can be analysed and with this information, one can measure the temperature range the brakes are operating in.  With this information different pad materials can be considered, and cooling systems can be developed and tested to analyse whether any improvement can be made to the operating temperature and reliability of the brakes.

We can offer a number of upgrades to almost any vehicle, but you should expect to pay a minimum of £60 for a sensible Trackday pads such as a Ferodo DS2500 brake pad. (More information is available by clicking the link.)

Mintex offer a number of trackday compounds such as the Mintex M1144. (Again, please follow the link for more information.)

Pagid are also an excellent if not a more expensive solution to a trackday and endurance race pad, however, they are very much worth the money in my opinion.
